If you've never been to the town of Gilroy, not far from San Francisco, you don't really need a map to find it.

Just follow your nose, as the aroma of fresh garlic is unavoidable.

Gilroy bills itself as the garlic capital of the world, and each summer, all-things-garlic are celebrated during the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

This year's festival is scheduled for July 29-31, and besides the obvious culinary treats (garlic bread, garlic fries), one can sample everything from garlic watermelon to garlic frog legs. And for dessert, there's garlic ice cream.

We know what you're wondering. After all, this is a blog about wine.

And the answer to your question is: Yes.

Yes, at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, you also can sample garlic wine.

On the other side of the country, a more diverse menu of culinary treats awaits at the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival, which this year runs July 28-31.

Dozens of fun-filled, stomach-filling events are planned, including a gospel brunch and a cheesesteak showdown hosted by Guy Fieri.

Whether you head to Gilroy or Atlantic City, the final weekend of July promises lots of tasty memories.
