The Hess Collection is one of the Napa Valley's "destination" wineries, known not only for its great wines, but also as home to some of the more significant holdings in the personal art collection of Donald Hess.

Now, at age 75, Hess has decided to take life a little easier. He has announced his retirement from day-to-day operations of his far-flung wine company, but will remain as Chairman of the Board.

Hess grew his company to include seven wineries on four continents. The most famous remains The Hess Collection, which attracts both wine lovers and art aficionados from around the world.

Beginning in July, Christoph Ehrbar, general manager of Hess Latin America, will take over day-to-day responsibilities for the company.
